SIPEAC, the Sustainable Initiative for Protecting and Empowering the African Child, works to protect, educate and empower young people so every child can thrive. Its youth-led approach to combating school-related gender-based violence (SRGBV), part of the Global Youth Mobilization movement, puts young people at the centre of keeping schools safe.
Since September 2025 I've been its Research Assistant and Field Coordinator. I carry out research, field assessments and data collection across schools, so every intervention is grounded in evidence. I coordinate the school visits, stakeholder meetings and sensitisation sessions on preventing and responding to SRGBV, child protection, safeguarding, how to report, and building safe, inclusive places to learn. So far, this outreach has reached more than 3,000 students and teachers.
I work closely with students, teachers, school administrators and community leaders to understand what's really happening and to build community ownership of the work. Behind the scenes, I design the surveys, data tools and trackers, analyse the field data in Excel and turn it into evaluation reports that shape decisions. I also create the advocacy and awareness materials in PowerPoint, Canva and Figma, so difficult topics like gender-based violence and child protection are explained clearly and with care.

During her time as a SIPEAC Champion, Peace demonstrated a strong commitment to addressing issues affecting the safety, dignity, and wellbeing of children and young people. As part of her project, she engaged with students and members of the school community to raise awareness about School-Related Gender-Based Violence, its different forms, its impact on students, and the importance of creating safer and more supportive learning environments.
She was actively involved in research, community and school engagement, data collection, awareness creation, and educational outreach. Through her engagements, she contributed to conversations that encouraged students to better understand SRGBV, recognise harmful behaviours, speak up about concerns, and understand available avenues for seeking support.
